I have the issue that sending email worked on the first run of XSIbackup after install but all subsequent tries (with exactly the same email settings) fail.
I investigated the issue by analysing the network traffic between xsibackup and the mail server and I found out when trying to connect to the outgoing SMTP server xsi backup sends mail command
"EHLO vmwarename\n"
to the server.
This is rejected by the server with error "544 SMTP synchronization error" because this is wrong syntax.
Correct would be "EHLO vmwarename\r\n".
Seen with a exim mailserver.
Best regards
Florian

We are aware of that. That bug will only affect some e-mail servers, but we have a new Free version with that bug corrected that will be released this week.
You can use any gmail.com, hotmail.com, yahoo.com account in the meanwhile.

Thank you for the quick feedback.

On your homepage I still see xsibackup version 9.1.9 - when will the new version with that bug corrected finally be released?
Offline
We don't have a schedule to update XSIBackup Free, we might do it in a couple of months or it might take longer.
That bug won't affect but a few users, most SMTP servers will accept a single line feed.
UPDATE:
We said we would, some lines up this post, so we will lauch a new version with that bug fixed.

Well, a month ago you said:
but we have a new Free version with that bug corrected that will be released this week.
I see, that this is a free version, but promises that aren't kept won't convince users to buy a PRO version...

The bug is not worth launching a new version, we will correct it and keep the same version number then. A promise is a promise.
