Solution: Error trying to backup from ESXI to NFS mounted Synology

Symptom:

Backup fails before performing any work with Error code 54xx at file common.c, line 54xx associated with not getting a lock file .b within the 30s timeout.

Cause:

The NFS shared folder on the Synology cannot have the setting "Enable data checksum for advanced data integrity" option enabled.

Solution:

The shared folder will need to be deleted and recreated without this option selected.

Use some real Linux server. Synology devices are expensive and have little RAM and outdated CPUs. Any 4th to 6th Intel generation i3 or i5 will perform way better for a fraction of the cost of a Syonology device.
