Backup VMs on a VSAN Datastore to NFS using ©XSIBackup?

I am trying to backup VMs from a single host in a small cluster located on a VSAN Datastore to NFS using ©XSIBackup-Free.

I am wondering if this is actually possible?

The log says it has backed up 800MB but the VM itself is 60GB and is a full OS with several GB of website data in it. This is certainly not a full backup! The log output is below.

This behaviour occurs with any VMs I try. This particular VM is currently off, and has no snapshots.

I can confirm not a lot at all is backing up on the NFS (3) server itself with

nfs-storage:/mnt/storage$ sudo du -sh /mnt/storage/xsi-backup
112M    /mnt/storage/xsi-backup

The folder on the NFS server includes several other test backups but is still only 112M.

I installed 5 days ago. Has the trial period elapsed? It's unclear how long that is. I am trying to evaluate but haven't managed to do a backup proper yet. I have 4 hosts in a small cluster with a few VMs on each. Presumably I would need 4 licences that I would have to renew each year, so this is an expensive potential purchase. I can see potential job problems too if the VMs move to another host in the cluster, but those are probably solvable. If ©XSIBackup isn't actually compatible with VSAN I can look at other solutions instead.

Could something else be causing this? Have I borked it? Should I reset everything and start again?

(c)XSIBackup IS NOT compatible with vSAN.
Any attempt to backup VMs in a vSAN volume will yield undefined results.
