Install issues

I am trying to install XSIBackup from the provided script in the email but it isn't working.  I see the following on the unzip part:

unzip: short read
cat: can't open 'xsibackup.zip': No such file or directory

I followed the manual instructions but when I get to the unzip part it still gives this message and never unzips the file.

Re: Install issues

You might have a corrupt .zip file or trying to use some incompatible .zip algorithm. If you are in ESXi the built in unzip binary will work, if it doesn't download again.

Re: Install issues

So the script provided in the email never worked for me, (maybe i missed a step?).  But I got it installed by downloading the zip file from the link provided, unzipping the file in windows 10, then copying the install file and XSIBACKUP-FREE.zip file (the zip inside the 1st zip) and then running the following command:
chmod 0700 install && ./install
Installed and working, thanks

Re: Install issues

You may need to debug the install script in your particular situation. Maybe some firewall is causing the file to download only partially.
In any case installing manually is very easy, so that's always an option.

Re: Install issues

OP is having the same issue I am. It's not a script error, it's a zip file error.

`unzip: invalid zip magic 0A0D0A0D`

I checked on my Windows box too. The zip file just doesn't unzip. I got zero help from them, BTW. They just sent me here.

Re: Install issues

unzip: invalid zip magic 0A0D0A0D is clearly denoting a corrupt .zip file. Download again from a device you know to work well. We have checked the downloadable file in the server and it's fine.

If you still have problems, download and install manually just like sirjamie did.

Re: Install issues

Update: I requested another download from https://33hops.com/xsibackup-vmware-esxi-backup.html and got a working zip file.

I've downloaded it four times on two different machines, one was Windows 10 the other a MacBook pro. Neither one gets a functional ZIP file. I can't unzip in Windows, Mac or in my Ubuntu 20.04 VM.

Re: Install issues

Nobody else has reported download corruption problems since years ago. Check that your ISP is offering quality bandwidth and routes.
