Running xsibackup results in clearing the screen and exiting. No GUI

I've been running 6.7U2 for a couple of months now and xsibackup pro has been running fine as a scheduled cron job. I recently installed a new VM and went to check the backups. The new vm was not being backed up, even though I had running vm's selected on the cron job. So I tried to run xsibackup and it gave the xsibackup: line 605: syntax error: unexpected "&". I researched that, found the issue and updated to 11.2.10. Now when running xsibackup, I get no error but I get nothing either. The screen clears as if you ran the clear command, and it returns you to a command prompt.

So I backed up the xsi-dir and ran a clean install. Same problem. I don't see anyone else with this problem, but I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

@zipsonic, try:

export TERM=xterm

before launching xsibackup. This should remedy the issue as noted here:

Re: Running xsibackup results in clearing the screen and exiting. No GUI

You need to set a resolution above 1024x768 to be able to use the GUI, if that's what you are referring to.
Also, please do configure an appropiate page code, any ISO-8859 will do it.
The link vscheuber is pointing you too is all you need to know.
