./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

Thank you for creating a great product. I have used this product on other servers without issue but today I ran into an error I have not encountered before.

./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

I can generate this error by executing ./xsibackup with no parameters or valid ones.

The name of my datastore xsibackup is installed on is: datastore01-ssd-500gb does xsibackup require being installed on a datastore called datastore1?

Re: ./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

I'm having the same problem. If I comment out lines 19 - 22 it then gives the same error on line 82. My datastore is just called datastore1.

Re: ./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

No XSIBackup does not require to be installed in the default recommended installation path: /vmfs/volumes/datastore1/xsi-dir, but if you install to other path, you are implicitly recognizing you know the path is persistent and you will need to take care to apply appropiate permissions and take any other needed action.

We'll be glad to help, but please, help us to help you and post all the relevant information:

- XSIBackup edition and version.
- ESXi version and build number (vmware -v)
- Backup job argument list.
- XSIBackup output or xsibackup-cron.log file

UPDATE:

Just as a remainder, XSIBackup is compatible with ESXi 5.1 and above.

Re: ./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

I just downloaded the xsibackup today, not sure how get the version number.
ESXi is 5.0.0 build-623860.
The error displays by just typing "./xsibackup" with no parameters.
The output is "./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution"

Re: ./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

Your version is not compatible with XSIBackup, just ESXi 5.1 and above.

Re: ./xsibackup: line 19: syntax error: Bad substitution

The system was running ESXi 5.0.0 so it's not supported, thank you for the quick response.
