Error using SMTP relay O365 - BareLinefeedsAreIllegal

When using the report/mail and configured O365 as mailserver we see these errors:

Fout: 550 5.6.11 SMTPSEND.BareLinefeedsAreIllegal; message contains bare linefeeds, which cannot be sent via DATA and receiving system does not support BDAT
see: [url=https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2998901/smtpsent-barelinefeedsareillegal-ndr-received-by-exchange-online-or-eo]SMTPSEND.BareLineFeedsAreIllegal[/url]

Is there something I can do about it to make this work, other then using a other (non MS) SMTP server?

Microsoft tends to create things outside of specifications.
Use a regular SMTP server, MS never creates anything that complies with standards, they think they are the standard itself.
GMail or Yahoo accounts will work
