Certified backup from XSIBACKUP-PRO 10.3.2 to XSIBACKUP-PRO 11.0.1

good morning. I migrated from XSIBACKUP-PRO version 10.3.2 to XSIBACKUP-PRO version 11.0.1. In previous backups I had requested the verification of the results and also if present in the log the warning "[DomainControllerW2016-01] CLQNOCER warning: local (c) 64 bit Windows quiesced backups can not be certified on first run" in the email sent to end the backup is certified for both virtual machines.
With the new version the warning message has changed to "[DomainControllerW2016-01] CLQNOCER warning: local (c) 64 bit Windows quiesced backups can not be certified" and in the mail the backup is not certified.
Which situation is the right one? do I have to change the configuration?
I enclose configurations and log.
Thank you.

Re: Certified backup from XSIBACKUP-PRO 10.3.2 to XSIBACKUP-PRO 11.0.1

There is a bug from part of VMWare or Microsoft, they point at each other and after a number of years none of these enterprises has done anything to fix it. We created a workaround that allows to use quiesced backups with MS Windows 64 bit, but it's nos possible to certify on first run when using (c)OneDiff due to the way the snapshots are created (fragmented).

Due to the fact that depending on if you are using (c)OneDiff, or a regular Vmkfstools backup or other type of backup programs, this will afect the first run (OneDiff) or all backups (Vmkfstools, Rsync, etc...), we changed the notice from "first run", to a more wide inclusive message.

Re: Certified backup from XSIBACKUP-PRO 10.3.2 to XSIBACKUP-PRO 11.0.1

ok, so even the bacpup of the previous version even if indicated "certified" were not certified?
In any case a backup indicated with "OK" even if not certified is to be considered valid?
At the moment I could not perform the functions of recover to verify the correct operation.
thank you.

Re: Certified backup from XSIBACKUP-PRO 10.3.2 to XSIBACKUP-PRO 11.0.1

If you run an Vmkfstools or Rsync backup and receive no errors, the possibility that there's something wrong is very low, almost zero, as Vmkfstools and Rsync already have their own internal verification mechanisms. Issuing --certify-backup=yes is a redundant check that is more focused on making sure the data can be read and is equal on both sides.

The level of certainty when using --certify-backup is almost absolute, but still, there's a chance that a meteorite falls on your datacenter ;-), so, although absolute certainty is something that only exists in the mathematics world, using --certify-backup will at lest allow you to sleep well.

When you use (c)OneDiff, the mechanism used to move the data from one server to the mirror image is higher level (snapshot exchange), so there's no inner byte-level check. Thus we created [https://33hops.com/xsibackup-trivial-check-and-checksums.html]Trivial Check[/url] as a simple way to have a reasonable level of certainty, plus --certify-backup wich will offer you, as stated above, an astronomical number level check.
