Hi Support,
I bought the pro version of XSIBackup and I'm testing it in the test environment VMWare ESXi 6.7.0 build-13006603.
I created a backup job and successfully executed it manually and I received the backup notification e-mail correctly.
Now, I have a problem when I schedule the backup job to run.
The backup starts correctly at the set time but 7 backup destination folders are created and I receive 7 backup notification emails.
For example last night, these are the created folders:
20190819020003
Virtual1
Virtual2

1566181593-XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX-config.tgz

My job parameters are:
"/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/xsi-dir/xsibackup" \
--backup-prog=Vmkfstools \
--date-dir=yes \
--backup-point=/vmfs/volumes/syno.backups.datastore1/ESXI/VMs/N2/ \
--backup-type=All \
--backup-how=Hot \
--del-dirs=+4d \
--use-smtp=2 \
--mail-to=myhome.lan@fastwebnet.it \
--backup-id=00000 \
--description="Full VMs Backup" \
--exec=yes >> "/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/xsi-dir/var/logs/xsibackup.log"
I checked in the logs, there are no errors and actually the backup seems to be performed 7 times.
Can you help me understand how to fix this situation?
thanks in advanced

The ESXi crond daemon is very primitive, it lacks any initialization control, thus you could have loaded it 7 times into memory without noticing.
You may use the Tools menu in the GUI to reinitialize the crond binary.

Hi Support,
I checked via ssh console with this command: "ps -c | grep cron" and this is the result:
3495628 3495628 grep grep cron
2484753 2484753 busybox /usr/lib/vmware/busybox/bin/busybox crond
so I have only one cron instance running.
I also performed the option you indicated to me via xsibackup interface and a messagebox is shown: "Current number of cron instance is 1, service seems to be running O.K."
But, it was a my mistake, I had set the scheduling parameters in this way:
* 2 * * *
therefore probably the job was executed several times, now I corrected the error this way:
0 2 * * *
and everything works properly! All backups are performed correctly and I receive only one email with the job execution report. ?
Fantastic tool, perfect for my needs, I recommend it to all vmware server administrators.?
Best regards
